How to Make Your Website User-Friendly

Today I going to tell you how can you make your site to generate more profit as well being helpful in achieving your business goal. We often hear that your site should be user friendly if visitors find your site confusing or cannot successfully navigate through it, they will leave. Keep some point in mind when you make your site for visitors/users friendly. Here are three simple tips to make your website user-friendly:
1. Navigation
The navigation on your site is probably its most important element. Make your navigation bar as simple as possible. One of the worst mistakes is using an expanding navigation bar that makes the visitor scroll over it in order for the menu to reveal their options. Most often, this type of navigation bar has too many choices; your visitor doesn’t know where to go, so they get flustered and leave.
Navigation on your site is an art, and you should direct your visitors through a logical path to where YOU want them to go (not to where they think they want to go). One way to do this is through call to action buttons or CTAs. We use these buttons on all of our sites; a visitor will go to a main page, and then we can direct them to the parts of that site that we want them to be aware of. We use this method instead of an expanding menu, because we find that it is more logical for visitors. With this method, you can direct visitors to where you want them to go, allowing you to control the buying process.
Quick Tip: most “expanding menus” are created in Macromedia Flash. Search engines cannot read Flash, and therefore they will not pick up these links on your website. If the search engines do not pick up the links on the navigation bar and these links are nowhere else on your site, they cannot accurately crawl or index your site. This is search engine suicide, because without even knowing it, you are stopping search engines from understanding what your site has to offer and from driving traffic to you.
2. Page Load Speed
Page load speed is VERY important. I know that when I am surfing the Internet and I stumble upon a site that loads slowly, I get annoyed, frustrated, and don’t browse the site for very long. If your website is loading slowly, you are probably losing out on valuable customers, no matter what business you are in. here are the factors involve that effect the page load are;
· In today’s web world, we are seeing more and more images, audio files and videos. These things are useful, but you have to be careful that they do not affect the inner workings of your site (in this case, the time it takes for a web page to load).
· You want to be careful about the size of the images on your website. Both large-sized images and using too many images can cause your website to take too long to load, resulting in visitors leaving.
· Another tip is to convert videos into a jpeg (image) that only loads and plays the video when a visitor clicks on it. Yes, you may be adding more images to your website, but these are usually small image files; in the hierarchy of the web, a video will slow down your website much more than a small image.
· Another factor that can influence the load time of your website is the amount of excess code you have on your site (that is a topic for another day - but ask your webmaster, and they will know what I am talking about).
3. Information
The number one thing that visitors look for is information. They are coming to your site to be educated about your products and/or services and, most of all, how THEY can benefit. With this in mind, it is critical for the information on your website to be accurate, complete and up-to-date. Visitors will leave your site in a split second if the information you are providing is old news.

What’s that best way to provide up-to-date information on your website? The best way we suggest is through blogs and articles. By having a section on your website for blogs and articles, you can provide new, relevant and educational information to your visitors. Adding them is not only simple, but it is fast too!

So there are my three simple tips on how to make your website user-friendly.

Impact of LSI on the Ranking of Your Web Pages

LSI stands for Latent Semantic Indexing, On a technical level, it's computers using complex mathematical models to figure out what text in documents means.

Basically, LSI can use the other words in your page to help it figure out what your site is really about. This helps solve the problem of synonyms (where two or more words can mean much the same thing) and polysemy (where one word can mean more than one thing).

Also, using LSI, Google can compare the vocabulary of your page to the words used on all relevant websites—and all the books in its database. Therefore, you're compared against authority sites and the experts who've written "real" books! Latent semantic indexing helps search engines to find out what a web page is all about. It basically means to you that you shouldn't focus on a single keyword when optimizing your web pages and when getting links.

The web pages on your web site should be related and focus mainly on a special topic while using different words that describe the topic. Use variations of your keyword and synonyms. That makes it easier for search engines to determine the topic of your site. Google’s new algorithm will scan content on a webpage and then analyze the phrases within to determine what other related [latent related] phrases should naturally occur in that document.
LSI can have a significant impact on the ranking of your web pages.
How can a search engine tell the difference between relevant information and irrelevant information? Some search engines use LSI to achieve this goal. LSI helps improve a search engines performance in three significant tasks: recall, precision, and ranking.

Recall is getting all of the relevant information available for your search.
Precision is getting only the information that is relevant to your search.
Ranking is getting all the information ordered in a meaningful way from the most relevant to the least.

On Page SEO Tips

It requires a lot of effort in designing and building a site, but it can be all in vain if you can't attract enough traffic towards it. You put all your efforts in an attractive design of your website and the next step you do is to put it in front of the online world.
You can't get success only by uploading your website on the www; the target is to attract well-qualified visitors towards your website, which can't be done unless you put your site in the eyes of the search engines.
Today, all of the internet users use search engines to find the site relevant to their interest. For example, if a person is interested in finding information about on-going and up-coming cricket events, he/she can easily do so by typing in the keywords in Google, Yahoo or any other search engine. The search engine, as a result, will present a list of most relevant websites on the basis of their keyword. So, in short, to get more traffic towards your website, make it more optimized and put all efforts into keeping your website in the eye of the search engine. This traffic is, without any doubt, the life of a business. No e-business can run without adequate traffic.

How to optimize your website for search engines?

There are two ways of doing it.
* Off Page Search Engine Optimization
* On Page Search Engine Optimization.

This article will focus on the tips useful for On Page Search Engine Optimization.

All search engine optimization techniques are usually classified into On Page Optimization Techniques and Off Page Optimization Techniques. Both help in achieving one common goal; to get higher ranks in SERPs (Search Engine Result Pages).

Useful On Page SEO Tips:
Following are some of the most common tips for better On Page Search Engine Optimization:
The most important word; The Keyword: it is always suggested that before you upload your website, put all your efforts into the keywords since users will be using keywords to find websites of their interest. Each page of your website should be treated as a separate entity having its own title and targeted keywords.

Always try to name your webpage files starting with your targeted keyword like crickethome.htm etc. For instance, if your website is about Telescopes then the title of each of your webpage should always start with the word Telescope and name each webpage file starting with word Telescope like Telescopereview.htm because the search engine robots look at filenames.

Always remember that you have to make your website attractive for the human visitors as well as for search engine robots. Attractiveness for both of them can be achieved through better keyword optimization.

You should keep in mind the keyword density and never over-optimize your web page. It is not necessary that the greater the optimization level of your web page the better it will be.

Build Customer Confidence with Testimonials

If a business has happy customers and a lot of return clients, it should have testimonials. You wouldn't hire a contractor to remodel your house without checking references. Therefore be proud of the work you do and get some testimonials. Customer testimonials will help increase sales as well as boost the confidence of potential customers.

In order to have testimonials work for you and increase clientele, you must be careful how you phrase them. Testimonials are a marketing effort, which means that they need to be geared toward making your company look spectacular. Testimonials will not only improve your business, but will also improve your company's image as one that values customer satisfaction. So make the effort to get some strong testimonials. Carefully place these testimonials to get maximum customers confidence. Here are some tips regarding placement of testimonials.

Eye-Catching Locations to Place Testimonials:

1. Once you have the testimonials, you need to figure out where to put them on your site. Placement is key, particularly when using flash. You want your testimonials to give maximum impact. The most common place on a website is for them to have their own navigation button titled either "Testimonials" or "Rave Reviews". This way more testimonials can be viewed on their own page.
2. Another option is to use flash testimonials on a sidebar on the homepage along with the customer's name, job title and company or logo. If you are using the testimonials in the masthead, they should rotate every 7-10 seconds then stop after all testimonials are shown. You don't want a testimonial to be so distracting that it takes the emphasis off of the content and what you are selling or offering. By having the flash cycle stop, you are allowing viewers to see the testimonials and then freely look at the content without the excess flash.
3. An alternative way to present testimonials is to sprinkle them throughout the site, highlighting them within the content using graphics, such as a color block background, upper and lower bar, etc. These visual stops are equally effective in reinforcing your credibility and can act as an additional selling point for specific products or services.
4. If you have the option for audio or video testimonials, this can be very effective in boosting your company's credibility. Audio is easy to record using Audio Acrobat. Video, on the other hand, requires more thought to positioning and angles. If you are at a trade show or with a client, you may want to pre-plan these testimonials for more impact.

Remember that in order for a testimonial to be effective, it needs to be specific, believable and placed in a credible location. With these tips in mind, your testimonials will build customer confidence and web success.

Sale of Yahoo to Microsoft Imminent

After months of stop-start negotiations, Microsoft are now closer than ever to their goal of acquiring Yahoo.
The latest breakthrough came following Yahoo’s settlement this week with ex AOL chief and billionaire investor Carl Icahn.
Mr Icahn, who controls approximately 5 percent of the company with his ownership of 70 million Yahoo shares, has been a big supporter of the merger with Microsoft, going so far as sending Yahoo stockholders an open letter urging them a deal with Microsoft would be in the company’s best interests:
“Yahoo’s search business is in a precarious position and it needs to join forces with Microsoft to compete with industry leader Google Inc.”
Icahn’s letter stated.
“Google is going to put in billions and billions of dollars, and where’s Yahoo going to get that money?”
Mr Icahn’s letter also pushed for Yahoo’s Board of Directors to step down, including Yahoo’s CEO Jerry Yang. A joint restructuring proposal from Icahn and Microsoft was sent to Yahoo board members on July 11, with the company given only 24 hours to accept or reject it.
At first Yahoo board members resisted the proposal, but Monday saw a settlement between Yahoo and Mr Icahn that ended the proxy contest. The settlement included an agreement for one board member to step down, Mr Icahn to be appointed to the board and for eight other board members to stand for re-election.With Yahoo pushing out their 2nd Quarter financial results late yesterday and a more pliable Yahoo board set to be elected at the company’s annual meeting on August 2, it appears that the announcement of a deal with Microsoft is imminent

5 Reasons to Own More Than One Domain

There is a marketing strategy that Smart businesses don't just own their company name as a ".com." They purchase several variations or related names to drive additional traffic to their primary Web site. In fact, buying additional domains for your company can pay off in big dividends—here's why.

1. It cuts marketing costs. A memorable, highly targeted and keyword-rich domain name from the secondary market gets more free, organic search engine traffic. As a result, you spend less money to build traffic than by purchasing often-costly keyword search buys or print advertising.

2. It builds your brand. Owning domains related to the products and services you offer send a strong and consistent message to your customers that you are the leader in your space. A photographer, for example, could own domains related to cameras, weddings and portraits.

3. It cuts your competition. Owning several domains prevents lost traffic and allows you to cut short the reach of your competition.

4. It gives you global reach. Although the "dot com" is the most common—and valuable—extension, opportunities still exist to purchase variations, such as country-specific domains like .co.uk, .it, .de, .hk and so on. These have extensive recognition in their region and dramatically increase your global reach.

5. It builds a valuable portfolio of assets. Like fine wines, domain names appreciate in value over time, thanks to the navigation traffic they acquire from prominent search engine positioning. By acquiring and using multiple premium domain names, you create a number of well-known and recognized secondary brand triggers associated with your business.

Tips to Get Visitors to Stay at Your Site

If you have a standard and mass-market style website, there are chances most visitors will glance at it and quickly move on. Generally the users my be interested in the following points;

1. They’re looking for information about something.
2. They’re mostly put off by hard-sell advertising.
3. They’re easily discouraged if it’s difficult to find what they’re looking for.
4. If they don’t find the site visually appealing they will move on quickly.
5. They are more likely to look more closely if the site has a personal feel to it.

Given the above, the odds are stacked against us in hoping to attract and retain the interest of the first time visitor. Let us examine some tips to overcome these obstacles, so as to move the odds somewhat in our favor.

The first impression is undoubtedly the visual one. A site that is poorly constructed, muddled or unattractive to look at doesn’t even get out of the starting blocks! The logic is very simple: if the site owner doesn’t have the interest and initiative to make his site look good to the visitor, it’s likely that he pays as little attention to its content.

Make your site look really appealing, by the careful use of colors, and make the layout such that it is easy to find the information the visitor is seeking. You will need something eye-catching, positioned at the top of your home-page to capture the visitor’s attention.
Remember to focus on the benefits to the visitor - what’s in it for him or her?

Remember your visitor is not looking to buy anything, he/she wants information. Make that information easily available, in an appealing way. It’s a good idea to offer a useful gift such as a free training programs or newsletter.

Position yourself as an expert in your field. In other words, “This is the information you need and these are the benefits to you.”. Your visitor can then make her own selection from the top home businesses available to him/her. Avoide unnecessary and irrelevant details.

A professional-looking website would be more likely to offer something worthwhile, than something carelessly designed that looks as though it’s been thrown together.

Keep it simple to navigate around the site, particularly so that the information your visitor is looking for can be easily accessed. If you provide a number of options from which to select, keep the instructions clear and simple.

Personalize your site so that it doesn’t look just like another of the mass produced sites. If you are able to tell a little about yourself and how your life has changed for the better, you have an increased chance of persuading your visitor to take a closer look at your offer.

How to Get # 1 Google Ranking

It doesn’t matter how great your product is, what a bargain your price is, or how beautiful your website is - Without traffic none of that matter. So at its most basic, the biggest determinant of your web businesses success is “getting eyeballs looking at your WebPages.”

When looking at where the traffic comes from, it begins with others linking (or pointing the way) to your site, Since Google is currently the search engine getting the most use online, and therefore the one that generates the most traffic, that also means that you need to focus on getting a front page, or ideally a number 1 listing, at Google.

However, your search engine optimization efforts should involve structuring your site, and your other search engine magnets, so that it brings in BUYERS from Google.
At its most basic, and simplest, getting a number 1 ranking at Google that leads to an endless stream of sales boils down to three parts. They are:

1) Targeting The Correct Keywords
2) Optimizing A Page For Those Keywords
3) Getting Links from Sites That Google Loves

Let’s look at each of these.

First, you absolutely have to target the correct keyword. Your webpages and everything that you do need to incorporate the keywords that your buying customers are actually typing into the search engines.
That kind of targeting means that the people who find you are searching for something very specific, and when they find you by typing in that very specific search term, they click through and buy.

Next, you need to optimize your webpages for those keyword phrases. That generally means that you need the target keyword phrases sprinkled throughout your webpages. It also means that you want to use your target keyword phrases in your title and description “metatags.” You also want to include your keyword phrases in anchor text on your webpages (the blue underlined text in hyperlinks).

You basically want to include your keyword phrases in all of the parts of your webpages that tells the search engines what your webpage is about. This includes places such as italicized or bolded text, your menu items, and even alt image tags.

Finally, you need to get sites that Google thinks are important to link to you. Ideally, these sites include your keyword phrases in the anchor text when they link to you.
Having an authority site link to you is like having a respected authority in your community give you an endorsement. They are telling the search engines, and the rest of the world, that they recommend you. By using your keywords in the anchor text, authority sites are also telling Google (and other less important search engines) that that is what they consider your site to be about.

So there you have my very simple three-part search engine optimization formula for getting a free number one ranking in Google in as little as a few hours. That fourth part, focusing on the buyers actively looking to spend money is a bonus

Organic Website Traffic Tips That Really Work

If your website is up and running, don’t think you can just sit back and get traffic to your website without lifting a finger. It is not that easy; well, it can be if you know what to do. Think of your website as organic, something that continually evolves and grows into the future. So how are you going to get website traffic? I will give some tips here in principle.

1. Content and Article Marketing
To get traffic you need top quality content on your website. If you don’t, any visitors you do get will click away from your website immediately and move to the next one in the list.
Support your content with article marketing. Write good quality articles relevant to your website’s content and submit them to online directories. This will help get you noticed and listed in the most popular search engine directories. Remember to stick with quality.

2. Creating Links
Start a link campaign. The best way is to get in-bound links commonly known as back-links from similar or complementary website owners. Another way to create links is to make informed comments on blogs and forums that allow you a link to your website address. This is effective and many will click your link simply out of curiosity, especially if you have interesting things to say in your field. But remember, it is not the quantity of external links that is important; it is the quality of them. Keep away from reciprocal linking, it is most often not worth the effort.

3. Web 2.0 Strategies
Web 2 strategies, often known as social marketing, have become a huge online marketing tool. YouTube, Flickr, Reddit, Propeller, MySpace, Facebook, Stumbleupon and Digg are all examples of social marketing tools that have come to the forefront in recent times. There are many ways to use these communities to promote yourself and improve website traffic in an ethical manner.

4. Free Website Directories
Promote your website to online newsgroups and free directories. Take care with directories and make sure you’re not submitting to a link farm. Search engines don’t take kindly to link farms. Make sure the directory offers significant traffic. Google themselves promote Yahoo directory and niche directories as good places to list your site.

5. Search Engine Optimization
Make sure your website is optimized so search engines list you. Once you are listed your web address will come up when people type in your keywords. To optimize your website use keywords in your content, the same keywords in you meta keyword tag, a sensible and relevant meta description, headlines and page titles. Don’t cheat! You need to learn a little more about On-page and Off-page optimization.

No longer do we live in an age where we can expect people to come to us. We have to target our audience and encourage people to visit. Usually with quality. Remember, that in the end, real people will decide the future of your site so don’t be in a rush.

Keywords have close contextual relationship to other Keywords

For those of you interested in the study of "semantics" or Latent Semantic Indexing(LSI) as it relates to which keywords have close contextual relationships to other keywords....here is an interesting experience.Check out a brand new Search Engine called http://www.quintura.com/ Not only does it use LSI but it even displays the evidence of how your search word shave other words relating to them. Unlike keyword-based search, that returns too many "irrelevant results," Quintura often finds what your looking for with one merely one click. Enter your search term. It displays a "cloud" of results. The size of a word shows its significance in relation to the query. The larger a word is, the stronger the contextual relationship with your query. The smaller the words appear the less related they are. Now place you mouse over each keyword in the cloud and see how your SERPs change. You may find what you're looking for visually with just one click. Click on any word in the cloud to change your query and get relevant results that will comply with your new query. Visit http://www.quintura.com/ and give it a try.

Yahoo Confirms Maven Network Ecquisition

Yahoo has acquired video publishing platform Maven Networks for $160 million. We were the first to report the deal the day the papers were signed, on January 31. The next day, Microsoft announced its bombshell offer for Yahoo, which probably delayed the announcement of this smaller acquisition. Everyone at Yahoo has been a little bit preoccupied.Yahoo will use Maven’s technology to host video for media partners and incorporate Maven’s video-ad insertion technology into its overall advertising platform.

Basic Rules for Internet Marketing Episode 3

1. Learn how to write effective copy.

The skill that will make or break you in internet marketing is copywriting. It is especially important to learn how to write headlines. There is a ton of good information online that is free regarding headlines and copywriting. Just do a Google search.

2. Take action, test, and track.

Tracking is essential because you absolutely need to know the results of your marketing efforts.Once you start getting results, you can employ simple tests to see if you can improve. Often this testing involves strategies that are free.
One such strategy that comes to mind is split testing. You can do this for free, and it can provide incredible returns. Generally speaking, split testing involves making slight changes to a landing page or adwords ad, often just the wording of the headline, and testing it against a current version.
I have seen very simple changes DOUBLE the productivity of an ad. It's not only amazing, but also a lot of fun! Marketing takes work. You simply cannot get something for nothing. Massive action creates massive results.

So take action and do not be afraid to fail. Remember to minimize your risk

Basic Rules for Internet Marketing Episode 2

1. Be consistent.
Successful marketers do something to propel themselves forward everyday. That is their secret.A good practice is to create a to-do list every night featuring 5 actions that you must complete the following day.By doing this at night before you go to sleep, you engage your subconscious mind and the next day you will know what you have to do and be on target to complete these tasks. This is a very powerful process. Try to do this, one day at a time, until it becomes a daily habit.

2. Set a budget.
Determine what you can afford to spend on advertising on a monthly basis. In this way you can set and manage your expectations. This should also prevent you from trying things you cannot afford.

3. Diversify.
Spread your efforts as much as you can over many different sources. This will also reduce your risk and help you to discover what works.Remember that if one internet marketing method that you try does not produce results, you have not failed. This just means that you are one step closer to finding something that DOES work.

Basic Rules for Internet Marketing Episode 1

Internet marketing strategies involve driving targeted (people who are interested in what you have to offer) traffic to your website, blog, or sales page. That traffic then has to be converted into sales. This simple formula illustrates this process:

Traffic + Conversions = Sales

Keeping this formula in your mind will help you in your internet marketing efforts because you will realize that you not only have to generate traffic, but also turn those visitors into buyers.Furthermore, here are 7 basic rules to follow when applying this formula. These rules are relevant to all forms of marketing but are especially important for online marketing where inexperienced people can "burn" a lot of money quickly and become very discouraged.

1. All marketing involves RISK.

Whether you are trying something new or "copying" a strategy that has brought good results for others, there is still an element of risk.
When speaking of risk, you tend to think of gambling which makes for an appropriate analogy here. For internet marketing, we try to reduce the risk and swing the odds in our favour by doing keyword research, learning skills like ad writing, article marketing, and pay per click, and other general marketing activities such as knowing what your target market is interested in.

2. Test small first.

Reduce your risk by testing a marketing approach on a small scale first. If it works, then increase the scale and create momentum.
This is how to make money!
